This Institute impart knowledge and skills to prospective and practicing managers, administrators and Office bearers of Trade Unions.
It organises training programmes, seminars, workshops and symposia on labour laws on Weights and Measures for enforcement officers.
Labour Laws Applicable To Factories
Proper understanding of various Labour Laws applicable to factories in Tamilnadu is not only an important function of the Personnel Department but the Management as a whole. Even the shift supervisor ought to know how to engage a worker on overtime or how to extend the working of the shift worker to the next shift and what are the pre-requisite for payment of wages for National Festival holidays.
It will be surprising to note that there are 15 Labour Enactments directly being enforced by the Factory Inspectorate of Government of Tamilnadu. Though the labour laws are being enforced by the Inspectorate for a long time, still an Inspector who inspects a factory comes across many lapses on the part of the employers which ultimately lead to penal action.
It is in this context, the Tamilnadu Institute of Labour Studies has designed a two day training programme for effective implementation. This will provide a good opportunity to the employers not only to be enlightened but to put across their difficulties and view points.
